About Us

Equation Collaborative is the non-profit organization behind +BOX, a North County San Diego based nutrition program on a mission to deliver healthy food and fresh ideas to those who need it most.

The current food assistance system is still based on hunger-relief, when it should be delivering health and wellness. +BOX is collaborating with local communities to create a next-generation food assistance system that will fuel healthier and more successful lives. Launched in April 2020, +BOX partners with local farms, food rescue organizations and neighborhood schools to provide food insecure families with CSA-style boxes of fresh, healthy food on a weekly basis.

While traditional food assistance programs effectively address hunger-relief, +BOX is creating opportunities for a healthier life. We make high nutritional value foods, with an emphasis on fresh fruits and vegetables, more accessible and available to children and families experiencing food insecurity. Our unique model increases household food security, fuels student achievement, and improves the health and wellbeing of the families we support; creating more opportunities for a healthier future.
