DESCRIPTION:Vista\, CA   Eight artists have created their visions of "kites" that will debut during the Strawberry Festival on Sunday\, May 30\, for the third sculpture exhibit to be showcased downtown. "The sculptures are a great feature for downtown Vista\," says Bill Fortmueller\, Assistant Director of Recreation & Community Services\, "They continue to draw interest from the community and attract recognition for Vista's Public Arts program." This year's winning artists include Kent Scott with Steel Ray\; Robert Maya\, Sun of Kites\; Carol Rodriquez\, Flower Pinwheel\; Buddy Smith\, Spinning Glass\; Josh Bowman\, Cloud Formation\; Robert Rochin\, Wind Beams\; Charles Bronson\, The Green Machine\; and Melissa Ralston created A May Day. Artist Robert Rochin will open his studio\, 2019 Sycamore Drive\, San Marcos\, to members of the media for a demonstration of his kinetic sculpture Wind Beams and discuss his new found success as a metal sculptor on Wednesday\, May 19 from 2-3 p.m.The eight new sculptures will join three sculptures from previous exhibits that have been purchased and donated to the City for display. The Big Blue Kite and Flock of Kites by Robert Rochin will remain in their locations for future display of the program. Josh Bowman's Joy Figure is also on display in the Vista Village Creekwalk
