DESCRIPTION:VIKING FESTIVAL 2011\n\n \n\n "VIKINGS INVADE VISTA"\n\n September 24 and 25\, 2011\n\n \n\n Norwegian Fish Club Odin and Sons of Norway Lodge No. 60 are proud to announce Viking Festival 2011. On September 24\, from 10am to 8pm and on September 25\, from 10am to 6pm\, members and friends unite to see\, share\, and sample all things Viking and Scandinavian at Norway Hall\, which was built in the 50s.\n\n \n\n EXPANSION: As the Vikings forged their way into new lands in the 8th and 9th centuries\, so too did the Vikings of today. After fierce battle with tribes from the North\, new lands were won. This year the Viking Festival has expanded into newly acquired Northern Territory. One can stroll along pathways enjoying streams\, trees\, shade and authentic reproductions of Viking encampments. For your entertainment and enjoyment of fine brews a second stage and beer garden have been added.\n\n \n\n ENTERTAINERS: Live music sweetens the atmosphere. The well-known Highland Way\, an upbeat Celtic band\, is performing Scottish and Irish music on both days along with other local entertainment.\n\n \n\n VIKING ACTIVITIES: Do you have the strength? All gather around the always-popular Viking Log Toss. Each year men\, women\, and children sign up to demonstrate their Viking prowess at the Viking Log Toss Competition. For those brave enough\, one can try their hand at axe throwing\, the Viking way. Back by popular demand are the Fiske Fling and the Battle Cry Competition. New this year is the Horn Blowing competition.\n\n \n\n VIKING VILLAGE: Scheduled Viking Battles and authentic reproductions of early Viking encampments are featured. Performance guilds Blackwood at Carlisle\, Brandenburg\, Drafn\, Vestrfolk and Raiders From The North will exhibit life and times from the Viking period. Pewter casting\, operating bread ovens\, fabric dying and weaving will lend to the authenticity of the day. \n\n \n\n ARTS\, CRAFTS\, & VENDORS: Beautiful arts and crafts both hand made and imported are featured. Also available are horns\, swords\, cloths\, linens\, and clothes\, jewelry\, clogs\, and books for cooking\, history\, language\, and much more. Visit Heritage Hall for lots of interesting facts!\n\n \n\n SM RG SBORD OF FOODS: YES there will be homemade Lefse! Menu items include Swedish Meatballs (a real crowd pleaser!)\, Sausages\, Scandinavian Baked Goods\, and so much more! The beer gardens will feature local microbrews and the ever-popular Viking mead!\n\n \n\n HOW TO GET TO NORWAY HALL: From the 78 freeway\, exit Civic Center Dr. Go North to East Vista Way and take a right. After about 3 miles\, look for the Norway Hall and Viking Festival signs on your left. Norway Hall is located at 2006 East Vista Way across the street from Elks Lodge and behind Nuevo Dia Church.
