Assistant police chief to speak

Congregation B'nai Tikvah will host Assistant Chief Shelley Zimmerman of the San Diego Police Department at 6:30 pm February 24 at 830 S. Melrose Drive. The free event launches Congregation B'nai Tikvah's "L'Chayim Series," focusingon life in modern times. Zimmerman , a 29-year police department veteran, will discuss her adventures in the Vice, Narcotics and Internal Affairs departments as well as the Multi-Cultural Community Relations Office and as part of the Mayor's Executive Protection Detail. She oversees the Neighborhood Policing  section and is also the department's liaison with the Gang Commission, STAR-PAL. The evening will include a brief Erev Shabbat service, followed by an Oneg Shabbat.
