Bowl-A-Thon slated

The Optimist Club of Carlsbad will hold its 20th annual Super Bowl-a-Thon fundraiser from 9 to noon February 5 at the Vista Entertainment Center. Prizes will be awarded to the bowlers with the highest scores and bowlers will also have the chance to win cash prizes by participating in a 50/50 drawing and other events. Proceeds will benefit various youth groups and programs the club supports such as the Special Olympics, local Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, local schools and a scholarship program. Admission costs $20 per bowler and includes shoe rental and three games of bowling. Coffee, juice, bagels and doughnuts will be provided. Residents may also sponsor a U.S. Marine to participate in the event.
