The MiraCosta Horticulture Club will meet September 5th at 12:30PM, at the Aztlan Rooms of MiraCosta College. This is the first meeting for the year and will begin with a workshop. Tracey Canziani ,North County Advisory Committee member, Meals-on-Wheels will explain the meals-on-wheels program which delivers well-balanced, nutritious meals, six days a week throughout San Diego County to end senior hunger. The main speaker will be Lindsay DeRight Goldasich, Masters Student, UCSD, Magna Cum Laude. She will speak on "The effect of pesticides on honey bee behavior with an overview of other factors ie: mites and nosema, (parasitic fungus) that contribute to Honey Bee Colony Collapse Disorder." We all know how important honey bees are to agriculture so this should be an excellent presentation. After the main speaker is done there will be a plant raffle.
