Job Description: 

This is a full-time on-site role for a Cost Accountant at Protec Arisawa's Vista, CA location. The Cost Accountant will oversee and analyze all cost expenditures related to the manufacturing processes in the facility. This position is responsible for producing detailed cost reports and analyses in support of operations and sales. In addition, the position is responsible for developing and maintaining the financial cost reports necessary to fully explain standard and gross margin analyses and the variances to planned results. All manufacturing cost aspects including material, labor and overhead, price-volume-mix analyses as well as efficiency, productivity and spend variances will be monitored and explained. This information will support weekly financial flashes, monthly results, quarterly forecasts and annual budget. This position collaborates with and supports the operations, sales/marketing and finance teams with insightful analyses and suggestions for improvements. The role requires strong analytical skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate and timely reporting.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare monthly operational reports explaining material, labor and overhead efficiency and productivity costs in comparison to plan
  • Prepare monthly standard and gross margin analyses as well as monthly cost of goods manufactured' and cost of goods sold' statements
  • Work with the Production and Finance departments to understand current reporting metrics, develop improved reports and fully understand inventory transactions as relates to the general ledger
  • Acts as the finance lead for annual physical inventory and monthly cycle counts; work with the operational resources responsible for these processes to assure timely and accurate financial reporting implications
  • Suggest projects focused on improving operational tasks as relates to improving efficiency, productivity, spend and labor tasks
  • Lead the annual standard cost development and roll of same.  Update critical raw material standard costs on a monthly basis
  • Work with Engineering department to update BOMS and Product Configuration
  • Conduct time studies to support labor allocations for each work center
  • Prepare and maintain standard adjusting journal entries with related support as relates to operational cost accounting and monthly inventory book to perpetual. Also prepare account reconciliations as needed
  • Support external audit and tax preparation functions as relates to cost accounting
  • Support the Controller in responding to inquiries from management, auditors, headquarters and other authorities regarding cost accounting issues, data in reports, financial information and policies and procedures related to cost accounting as well as SOX compliance

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field
  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience within accounting/finance with specialty in manufacturing cost accounting
  • Proven record in assisting operational leadership with understanding and improving processes to support bottom line results
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools and MS Office  
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with employees at all levels
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines

Compensation: 
Salary Range $80k - 90k + Annual Discretionary Bonus
