Environmental Health & Safety Professional – Short-term Worker

Department: Environmental Health & Safety/Risk Management

Campus location: San Marcos

Hours per week: 26

Work schedule: 7:30 am – 4:30 pm; Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Hourly pay rate: $18-$23 depending on the selected candidate’s experience

 

Job duties: Participates in the on-going revision, development and implementation of the District’s emergency response policies, plans, procedures and guidelines; conducts, coordinates and tracks all Districts’ emergency response/OSHA safety drills and training; ensures that District’s emergency response policies, plans procedures and guidelines are current with changing federal, state, and local agency programs; conducts, coordinates and tracks various OSHA Safety training for District employees; maintains employee safety training records and reports; manages the EHS website; and works on special projects as required.

 

Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

• A Bachelor’s degree in a work-related discipline OR four years of related experience.

- NOTE: For experience, a “year” is defined as equivalent to 40 hours per week for 12 months.

• Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with OSHA safety regulations; experience with emergency management; proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite applications.
