Vista Chamber of Commerce Board Unanimously Endorses Measure H
Vista, CA — The Vista Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has voted unanimously to endorse Measure H, a proposal that would authorize a long-term partnership between Tri-City Healthcare District and Sharp HealthCare to operate Tri-City Medical Center.
Measure H would allow Tri-City Healthcare District to enter into a 30-year lease agreement with Sharp HealthCare, San Diego County’s largest provider of medical services. Under the proposed agreement, Sharp would operate Tri-City Medical Center while the hospital remains a publicly owned community asset.
Sharp HealthCare is a not-for-profit integrated healthcare system that operates four acute-care hospitals, five specialty hospitals, three affiliated medical groups, a health plan, and medical offices throughout San Diego County.
Supporters of the measure say the partnership would strengthen the long-term sustainability of Tri-City Medical Center and expand access to healthcare services in North County. Planned improvements include restoring labor and delivery services, establishing comprehensive oncology care, investing in modern medical technologies, upgrading electronic health record systems, and completing required seismic improvements to the hospital campus.
“The health of our community and the health of our economy go hand in hand,” said Rachel Beld, President and CEO of the Vista Chamber of Commerce. “Employers depend on reliable, high-quality healthcare for their employees, and families depend on access to excellent medical services close to home.”
The Chamber’s support for Measure H is rooted in a longstanding history with Tri-City Medical Center. More than 60 years ago, the Vista, Carlsbad, and Oceanside Chambers of Commerce played a key role in the formation of the Tri-City Healthcare District. Today’s endorsement reflects a continued commitment to that legacy and to the long-term vitality of the region. Tri-City Medical Center has long been a trusted place for residents to receive care, particularly for critical services such as stroke and cardiac treatment.
According to information provided by the campaign supporting the measure, the proposed affiliation would also allow for significant investment in the Tri-City campus, upgrading technology systems, and expansion of specialty care services for residents across North County.
